Calling all directors! We’re looking for someone to join our team for Titus Andronicus this year…
We’re looking for a unique, creative, and talented individual to work as Assistant Director on the April production, then take over rehearsals for subsequent cast changes as Associate Director, as the show tours over the course of the year. In addition, you’ll get mentoring support.
This will suit a director early in their career, looking for a very different experience, and interested in starting a longer term partnership with a successful emerging company.
As Assistant Director for Titus Andronicus in April, you’d be expected to attend most rehearsals: supporting the director in and out of the room, keeping relevant notes, and liaising with the dramaturgs, designer and the rest of the team. The show takes place at Greenwich Theatre between 28th April and 2nd May, and rehearsals start 28th March.
Then, as Associate Director, you’ll lead rehearsals for the cast changes that will follow, making sure the show is up to scratch for each leg of the tour. You’ll still work closely with the director, but you’ll have a lot more autonomy and responsibility, and be supported by an Assistant Director. The bulk of this will take place between 25th May and 28th June.
The role will include travel/accommodation at the Edinburgh Fringe, and to other venues along the tour.
You’ll also get mentoring from an external director, James Farrell, director of all-male Shakespeare troupe The HandleBards. As well as being a successful director in his own right, James is Associate Director on The 39 Steps in the West End, and works as an Assistant Director at the Royal Shakespeare Company. He’ll be able to provide insight into the roles, as well as mentoring and other support.
The ideal candidate will have experience of directing and assistant directing, and have a track record of fresh ideas, a love for Shakespeare, and great organisational skills.
We’re looking for someone to start as soon as possible, so send us a CV through to email@example.com now. Good luck!
