News of A Midautumn Night’s Dream…
That’s right friends, Londoners, Countrymen! Smooth Faced Gents have teamed up with IdeasTap and the Pleasance Islington to bring you Work Bard, Play Bard, a unique night of Shakespeare, featuring some of the country’s most exciting theatre groups… hosted by us, performed for you!
Come and enjoy a Bard day’s night with an eclectic platter of different scenes, monologues, and extracts of Shakespeare’s work, each created in a different style by a different group.
This time, the theme is gender. The scenes will all explore the sexes in a variety of different ways. Expect gender-flipping, single-sex extracts, and powerhouse performances of some of the Bard’s most prestigious power couples.

The night will feature winners of our IdeasTap Work Bard Play Bard contest, plus scenes from several award-winning companies, including The Handlebards, The Merely Players, Invertigo Theatre, and of course, your very own
