So, we’ve almost cast our new production of Titus Andronicus, and it’s time to finish building the rest of the team. We already have a cracking Technical Designer, a silky-haired Sound Designer, our lovely Composer, two top-notch Dramaturgs, and a very exciting Fight Director, but there are a few more people we’d like to bring on board.
If you’re interested in any of the below, drop us an email to say hi, along with a quick CV, to firstname.lastname@example.org. And if you have any recommendations, send them this link, and drop us a line.
But either way, get your skates on! We’re moving fast on this now…
What we’re looking for:
- A set designer/maker
- A costume designer
- A musical director
- A stage manager / production assistant
- An assistant / associate director
See this blog post for details. We’ve started talking to some promising candidates but still open to interesting applicants, so get in touch soon!
We’re looking for someone who’ll work with us (and the designer) to oversee the costume. As it’s a revival, we have quite a bit of costume as a starting point, but we’re open to considering some new ideas to reinvigorate the production. That means this job will be an unusual mix between acting as costume designer, costume maker, and wardrobe manager.
Your main tasks will be to plan and piece together a complete set of costume, liaising with the director and designer, using a combination of what we have with items you make or source elsewhere.
The time commitment will be partly based on how you choose to take it. We anticipate you attending 3-4 rehearsals, including the tech and dress, and a few meetings.
Titus Andronicus has several pieces of live choral music in it, performed by the actors. We’re looking for someone to help the company realise these. You’ll work with the director, sound designer, and composer, to integrate the music into the rehearsal process.
Your main responsibility would be to teach the songs to the actors, helping arrange them for those particular voices, and to make sure they’re confident for the show.
We anticipate you taking part in 4-5 sessions over the course of the rehearsal period, including at least one in performance week (27th April).
Stage Manager / Production Assistant
We’re looking for a creative, good-humoured, and ambitious person who relishes a challenge, to work with us on the practical aspects of the production.
Our version of Titus Andronicus is a large, complex, and rather messy show! We’re looking for someone to work with the production team and the actors to manage the practical aspects of this.
Your duties will include: working with the designer to explore approaches to making the paint; helping us integrate the paint, set and props into rehearsals as early as possible; keeping a record of practical considerations that come up in rehearsals (with the AD); helping to source certain items (with the design team); coordinating the setup and cleanup for each performance and taking part in that (with the cast); and cueing the show.
If all this sounds like your kind of thing, then get in touch!
The time commitment would include attending some rehearsals, some meetings, the shows themselves, and some time working autonomously / with the producer. We can also provide some office space at certain times in the week.
Although we’re flexible, we’d hope to have you at least roughly half of rehearsals, because we believe it’s key for any production to have the SM tightly integrated with the show, and especially the cast.
Assistant / Associate Director
We’re looking for a unique, creative, and talented individual to work as Assistant Director on the April production, then take over rehearsals for subsequent cast changes in May and June. Read all about it here.
Update: we’ve also secured a very special mentor for this role. Read the blog post to find out more!
