CASTING: seeking a new Aaron

Home / Opportunities / CASTING: seeking a new Aaron

Hello Shakespeare lovers!

So… We’re all back and fully recovered from the adventure that was Edinburgh. We missed summer completely but it was all worth it – what an amazing run we had!

More on that another time, though. For now, we are back, refreshed, uplifted and ready to get working on our performance for York Theatre Royal next month!

We do, however, need a replacement Gent for our wonderful Viv, who was playing the fabulous role of Aaron. We are therefore calling all black actresses who are up for:

  • Playing one of the Bard’s greatest villains
  • Performing on the main stage at York Theatre Royal on the 17th October
  • Becoming a Smooth Faced Gent and being invited to audition for all future shows
  • Rehearsing between the 30th September – 15th October (evenings and Saturdays)
  • Getting to deliver  the original ‘your mum’ joke

A bit more about Aaron…

Aaron the moor is captured by the Roman army along with his secret lover Tamora, Queen of the Goths. When the Goths are freed by new Emperor Saturninus and Tamora is chosen to be the new Empress, Aaron finds himself in a place of power and plots his revenge to see the downfall of the Roman Empire and the General of the Roman Army, Titus Andronicus.  Aaron is subtle, manipulative, charming and incredibly funny.

If this sounds like the job for you, please email your CV, headshot and cover letter to casting@smoothfacedgentlemen.com.  We will be holding auditions very soon!

This job will be profit share and travel and accommodation will be paid for.
